Hi, I'm Celi! I'm 20 years old, live in Germany, specifically in Nuremberg, and I have been wearing kimono for 3 years now.
About 7 years ago I first got into contact with kimono because I did Ju Jutsu and Iaido for a few years and my teachers' wife was (and still is) an active kimono collector.
For every Hanami and Tanabata they would visit a nearby Japanese garden and dress themselves and other people in kimono.
It was really fun and at first I was fine just trying them on for those occasions but soon wanted to learn more about it and I got my first kimono, a green silk tsukesage, in may 2017.
From then on I couldn't stop. Every free minute I had I spent reading about kimono and trying to dress myself.
I love kimono for all the options it brings to express myself, how my posture immediately improves and how elegant I feel once I wear it!
It's just so different from western clothing which I find quite boring.
Now I have aproximately 60 kimono, feeling pretty confident about my kitsuke skills and I really enjoy wearing them as much as I can in my daily life.

I got a little creative with this coordination!
I had an old mofuku kimono and wanted to make it wearable and did so by adding lace to the collar and little purple flower appliques to the mon to make them into hanamon so they would not hold any formality anymore but still look cute.
I matched the obi and other accessories to the lace collar and sticked to the traditional way to wear kimono except with the shoes.
The low heeled lace up shoes still look elegant with it but give it a little modern touch which fits well with the lace collar! The photos were taken at my favourite place in Nuremberg... A small bridge, the old hangman's Bridge, a quiet and pieceful spot that isn't as busy and loud as the rest of the city.

This coordination was inspired by women's business attire as it strongly reminds me of a blazer and skirt combination so I not only wore it short but also used a white blouse instead of a Nagajuban.
When wearing kimono in a modern way I find it quite interesting to play with silhouette and not necessarily stick to the ideal tube shape that's best when wearing it traditionally.

For this coordination I chose my sunset Yukata and matched my firework and lucky cat Obi with it as it strongly reminds me of some Japanese summer festivals that would have taken place in the last weeks but didn't due to COVID-19 so dressing for it might have to do.
With it I wore my cute black ballet flats as I intended to walk quite a bit.

For this coordination I chose to wear kimono in a modern way and combined it with a western circle skirt, belt and a petticoat as I really enjoy to wear 1950's inspired clothing when I don't wear kimono.
That way it's very easy to wear kimono in daily life as it's not as restricting and still looks cute! The ballet flats made this look just perfect!

Here I chose hakama to wear with my kimono which is just a very comfortable style and great for moving a lot during the day!
That day I enjoyed a little trip to my favourite park in Nuremberg, which is small but has a beautiful lake and flowers everywhere!
As it's way too hot for boots with Hakama I wore these very soft lace up shoes with low heels
